When you have been in a car accident, you are going to need to make sure that you get your car repaired as quickly as possible. In order to do that, you are going to need to make sure that you have estimates from two or three different collision repair shops. The estimates will help you make sure that you are paying the best prices for your repair as possible. With two or three estimates, you can check one against the other and make sure that their prices are all somewhat in alignment and in agreement with what you expect. In order to ensure that you are getting the best estimates, you want to make sure that you are comparing apples to apples, not apples to kumquats. There are ways that you can do that.

Make a Checklist

One thing that you can do is to make a checklist that you can use while you are getting each estimate. The checklist should include things like the differences in prices between using OEM parts vs. using refurbished parts, how many man hours it will take to do the work, how long they are going to need to keep your car, etc. If you use the checklist with all your questions on it as well as all the requirements you need for your car, the estimates should all cover the same things and make it easier for you to compare them.

Do Some Research

You aren't going to be able to get an accurate estimate just by doing some research about what kind of repairs you think you are going to need, but you can get an idea of what kinds of things will go into making the repairs and what parts are necessary. You can also get some idea as to how long those repairs should take. Having that information will help you figure out which estimate is going to be the best one for you to choose. You should be able to figure out if one of the estimates is a lot more or a lot less than it should be.

If you have been in a car accident, you are going to have to worry about getting your car repaired. The best way to get your car repaired is to get two or three estimates so that you can compare and contrast as necessary so that you can choose the collision shop that will work for you.
